    Finding a Lawyer

While the SBA does not provide referrals, we support Access  Pro Bono who offer a Lawyer Referral Service to help connect people with a lawyer to assist with their legal needs. Anyone can call the Lawyer Referral Service to obtain the contact information for a lawyer who will provide a free 1/2 hour consultation.

Who are we?

We are a non profit organization serving the legal community of Surrey, BC and and surrounding area.  We value connecting socially, pursuing continuing professional development opportunities together, and serving our community.

We facilitate  local events to allow the lawyers and judiciary to gather as colleagues and friends.  Our Annual Bench & Bar Dinner provides opportunity to recognize judges and lawyers who have served in our community with distinction.  Our golf tournaments and other social functions further our goals of fostering collegiality within our local bar.

Pro Bono, Community Education, Philanthropy

We are committed to the public.  To that end, our members partner with other organizations and efforts to provide legal advice to those that cannot afford a lawyer and engage in seminars and other public education sessions in our local community.

Contributing financially or raising funds for local causes that support our community and/or foster the values of the SBA is important to us.  Past recipients of SBA financial assistance include:  Access Pro Bono, the Justice Education Society, the Challenge Day Program (Kwantlen Secondary), the David B. Thomas Memorial Fund, the Djavin Bowen Memorial Arts Scholarship and others.

Continuing Professional Development

Providing ongoing affordable educational opportunities for our members locally, is a priority for the SBA.  We are committed to the continuing education and improvement of the profession in and around Surrey and are always looking for ways to better serve our membership in this regard.
