Mt. Everest Summit by Ajaypal Singh Dhaliwal

Tuesday, June 23, 2026 7:43 PM | Anonymous

On May 20, 2026, Ajaypal Singh Dhaliwal became the first Canadian of Indian descent and, to the best of our knowledge, the first practising member of the Law Society of British Columbia to successfully summit Mount Everest.

Ajaypal Singh Dhaliwal faced one of the harshest tests imaginable on Mount Everest, alone in the mountain’s Death Zone, without oxygen, exhausted, and close to death.

After becoming separated from his Sherpa during the descent, Ajaypal spent hours in near-total darkness at extreme altitude, where every step can be fatal. Despite disorientation, freezing conditions, and severe oxygen deprivation, he refused to give up.

Drawing strength from faith, discipline, and sheer willpower, he continued moving, step by step, until help arrived.

Accounts from fellow climbers and Sherpas credit Ajaypal not only with surviving but doing so with remarkable resilience, composure, and determination in conditions where many would not.

A remarkable achievement and an even more remarkable testament to the human spirit.
